Fun fact: The term "parametric" in design—the stuff I’m using for my Blender scaffolds—was actually popularized by architects like Antoni Gaudí. He used weighted strings to "calculate" physics long before we had AI to do the heavy lifting. I like that vibe. It’s grounded, practical, and a little bit experimental.
Lately, I’ve been deep in a period of working on, well, everything. My main goal is to make this website accessible and, more importantly, believable. I want you to see that it was built by a human, not just spat out by a machine. Coming from an After Effects background, I’m used to seeing how much things change when you automate them—it’s like working with keyframes. You want the flow, but you need the control.
The Front-End & The "Little" Projects
I’ve really been enjoying seeing what can be tethered together. Whether it’s API calls for a weather service affecting the UI or prototyping a Mast Cell Activation symptom tracker, I’m looking for the tricks of the trade. The value is in the fast prototype; building something personal that actually solves a problem without needing a massive team behind it.
I’ve also been tinkering with Premiere Pro. I didn’t want to buy a new app for beat detection, so I just built one in Python using VS Code. It detects transients and beat drops—stuff I used to do manually in Sound Keys. I keep running out of tokens because I do way too much "Anti-gravity" work, but the musical feedback is worth the sting.
Building for People (and Doug)
If you look at my portfolio, my favorite project is the Guitar Fretboard Mapper. I dedicated it to Doug Nugent, a long-term student of mine who’s stuck through all my crazy phases. He likes fretboard maps, so I built an interactive one to show how patterns move in different tunings. It’s a small problem, but a real one.
Then there’s the 3D printing side. I used AI to help me build a parametric model maker plugin for Blender so I can batch export placental organoid scaffolds. It’s not using AI to make the models, but to build the tool that makes the model-making possible. Efficiency on a budget.
To make this easy, I’m trying to build as much from scratch as I can. I’m stingy and on a budget, and I know I have massive gaps in my knowledge (my brother is way ahead of me here). But that’s the point. This brand is about filling that gap and making tech feel human again. Cheers, Adrian!
