Here’s a little trick I like to call the AI calibration check. Think of it as tuning your internal info compass—your very own BS detector—when you're dealing with an AI that sounds a bit too confident.
So, I ran a simple test: I asked the AI what time it was. It confidently announced a time that was, well, a good 20-odd minutes off from my own clock. I nudged it a bit, asking if it was absolutely sure, and it doubled down with a cheerful “Yep!”
Of course, once I mentioned the real time, it happily agreed with me. And that’s really the whole point of this calibration check. It’s a playful way to remind yourself that while AI can get close, it’s not always locked into your reality. It’s good at approximations, but your own sense of what’s real—your human compass—is the final call.
So, if your AI is sounding a bit too slick, just toss it a reality check now and then. You’ll learn a lot about what it assumes and what it misses.
