Most people treat the mouse like a blunt stick. Point. Click. Done.
But the mouse actually has layers. Pair it with a couple of keys and suddenly you’ve got real control.
A few examples using your browser:
- Ctrl + Click opens a link in a new tab in the background.
- Ctrl + Shift + Click opens a link in a new tab and switches to it.
- Shift + Click opens a link in a new window.
- Middle mouse click opens a link in a new tab, or closes a tab if you click on one that’s already open.
None of this is advanced. It’s just learning that the mouse and keyboard are a team.
Pick one trick. Use it until it feels normal. Then add another. Before long, you stop fighting your computer.
And yes, this was also written at the dump. Turns out waiting around is a great time to learn one small thing that saves you minutes every day.
